The repeated intersections in this traditional nine element pattern represent the coming together of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. As early as 1908, travelers have visited the Four Corners region, which also marks the boundary the Navajo Nation and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation
